Easter Resolutions

The first, hopefully last, Spring blizzard is now over. I almost considered getting out my snowshoes for the first time this year! Ha! As Spring temps rise, the snow will be melting, which means more of us will be outside and getting more active.

This weekend is Easter, which not only signifies the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, but also the coming of Spring. What a great time to think about new possibilities! Of trying new things! Of rededicating yourself to resolutions that maybe you've let slide since January.

I have been taking a class through Fiesty Media on "Navigating Menopause" (they produce the podcast Hit Play Not Pause that I've mentioned in the past). I was hoping to get some insights into how women can manage, in particular, the weight gain that comes with menopause. As you can imagine, there is no definitive answer as to why it happens or any one thing that will prevent or curb it. I know... no shocker there!

Now, my half-marathon days are well past me, but I like to think that I can get back into some sort of athletic activity now that I'm well into my 50's. Enter the module we had last week on athletic performance... and my new fave! Let me introduce you to Erin Carson, of ECFIT Performance Strength (here's her YouTube link). She is all about how to stay mobile, stay strong, and prevent injury for endurance athletes. After doing one session with her, I was a fan!

Even though I don't train for long endurance runs any longer, I have a lot of annoying aches and pains. I have been stretching to try to relieve the pain with some success - until I move wrong, and then it's back. What I really like about Erin's mobility training, is that it's all done while moving. I'm all about flexibility and range of motion. Would the combination of both mobility and stretching help me even more? That's what I'm hoping!

So, whatever your Easter resolutions may be, I suggest that you include a little ECFIT if it includes being active - whether an endurance athlete or not. And, if you're doing something that gets you excited and pumped up to get out there and get after it, I'd love to hear what you're doing! Because, in all honesty, I'm feeling a little wary about trying something new. Inspiration from others may be just what I need to find my next adventure.

That, my friends, is what life is all about! We need inspiration from others and a cheering squad to help us get over our fears when we don't know where to begin. And, that is what health coaching is all about, as well. We all have tendencies to be hesitant when trying new things that we're unfamiliar with. A new lifestyle is hard... and a bit scary. So, get in touch with me at incourage@incourage-health.com or complete this application for some direction... and lots of cheering, too!

Wishing you a Blessed Easter!

In Courage, Dani
