Getting to the Root Cause

I have been going to a physical therapist to help me with pain that I've been having in my legs. I wake up in the middle of the night because my thigh muscles are tight. I can't get comfortable no matter what position I'm in. It had gotten to the point where I had to do something about it.

Besides working on the muscles around my pelvic area, she's also working on my feet, which are not as limber as they should be.

I have been started on a regimen of Toe Yoga. First, I have to try to lift just my big toe.

Nope. Can't do it.

I lift that big toe, and POP, the others just follow suit.

Then, I have to try to keep my big toe down and lift my other 4 toes.

Nope. Can't do that, either. I try to lift just my toes, and the big toe takes the lead.

To make matters worse, I'm telling my husband about it, and he shows me how he can do both exercises. Who knew his toes were so limber?! And coordinated?

So, in order to these exercises, I have to actually hold my toes my down with my hands. (In all honesty, this is not such a shock to me. I also can't wink with my left eye. I have to hold that closed, too. I know - TMI, right?! LOL)

Next, I have to stretch each toe one at a time using a rolled up towel. That's doable with a little maneuvering.

Finally, I have to roll my foot on a ball and pay attention to spots where there is pain, as well as focusing on rounding the ball of my foot around the ball. I have some spots where it's a little spicy - Ouch! Back off the pressure a bit there, Dani!

That got me thinking. Most of these exercises are not focused on my thighs at all, but rather all of the joints and muscles surrounding my thighs. This whole time I've been focused on my legs. When I get up during the night and use my foam roller, I'm rolling my thighs out. It helps, but only for a short time.

I haven't been focused on getting to the root cause.

Our nutrition and health habits are the same.

I have found that many of my energy problems, my weight problems, my sleep problems.... and the list goes on.... are related to my diet. I feel I try to eat pretty well most of the time, but I could do better.

I like the lime-flavored tortilla chips. And, when I think I'll have just a few, it ends up being waaayy more than I expect.

Then, I finally get to the point where I have to do something about it.

When I did the 5-day Jumpstart in January, I did not expect to lose 2-4 lbs (for some reason I think it was 4 lbs, but that seems like too much, so now I say 2-4. Haha!). I did not expect to see the increase in my energy like I did, either. I mean it was only 5 days! But, both of those things happened. And, it was easy. I just followed the meal plan provided. You know, the one that I made up for the program. Yeah, that one.

Who knew that the foods we eat have so much impact on weight and energy level?!

Yep, we can exercise until the cows come home, but often it's the foods we eat that are the root cause of our issues.

I hope you'll start to feel better and have more energy with me. There is still time to join the 5-day Spring Into Summer!

It all starts on Sunday, June 2nd.... yes, that is THIS Sunday. Well, the kick off is Saturday, at 10 am, but I can send you the recording to watch if you can't make it.

Here is information link with more details. If you're interested, please email me at incourage@incourage-health.com. The payment link has expired, but I have the power to still get you in - and there may be a little surprise in it for you, too! LOL

In love and courage,

Dani
